Riverbend to enter crop supply business
November 16, 2018

Riverbend Co-operative Ltd. is purchasing three crop supplies and fertilizer locations from Viterra Inc.

“This is an exciting opportunity for our Co-op to significantly increase our presence in the ag sector in central Saskatchewan,” said Greg Sarvis, General Manager of Riverbend Co-op. “We’re looking forward to welcoming new employees to our team and working closely with customers to show them the benefits we can offer.”

Riverbend Co-op will be acquiring three Gardiner Dam Terminal Ag Services (GDT Ag Services) locations in Broderick, Strongfield and Tullis. These purchases are expected to be finalized on December 19 if all conditions are met.

“GDT Ag Services is a thriving business with an excellent reputation,” said Sarvis. “We want to continue those relationships as well as add new members, who will be able to take advantage of our Co-op’s lifetime membership benefits.”

The new locations add to the services Riverbend Co-op already provides to farm customers, which include bulk petroleum, farm equipment from Co-op Agro Centres in Outlook, Davidson, Beechy and Wiseton and six cardlock fuel locations in the region.

Riverbend Co-op’s acquisitions are a sign of how Co-op Ag’s network of services and support is expanding for members and customers across Western Canada. Last year, Federated Co-operatives Limited opened two new fertilizer terminals – including one in Hanley, Sask. – so that fertilizer can be delivered more efficiently to local co-ops and their farm customers.
