Pick or Click Begins in 2025
ActionsA significant and positive change is going to be occurring in January 2025! Beginning in the new year Riverbend Co-op will be ceasing delivery of all paper flyers to our members and communities through the mail.
This decision does NOT mean the end to the flyer program. All flyers will continue to be available in our locations, and additional paper flyers have been ordered in anticipation of this change. People still wishing to have a paper flyer will be able to pick them up in the stores.
Some of the reasons the Riverbend is making this change revolve around:
- Environmental Impact: The production of newsprint flyers contributes to deforestation, leading to the loss of valuable ecosystems. Discontinuing them would be a step toward reducing our carbon footprint and preserving our planet. Not to mention the carbon involved with shipping and trucking flyers for distribution.
- Waste Generation: These flyers often end up as waste, contributing to the growing issue of landfill overflow. By moving away from newsprint flyers, we can promote a more sustainable approach to marketing and communication. We have all witnessed the sheer number of paper flyers thrown away right inside our local post offices.
- Digital Alternatives: In today's digital age, there are more eco-friendly alternatives for spreading information. Embracing digital platforms such as the Co-op App (on Android and I-Phone)and https://www.co-op.crs/home (Co-op.crs), as well as https://flipp.com/ to locate current flyers.
We thank you for your understanding and Co-operation as this change is set to start. Please look for signage at all our checkouts that have a QR code to take you to your app store for downloading the Co-op app.
